We rode the metro today and walked around. We had to break down and buy sunglasses. The sun was killing my eyes!! Granted this is a problem that I have enjoyed having. I would much rather have the sun in my eyes than worried about falling down on ice! (Now that I have completely jinxed myself!) I am glad that I got a pair because these are glasses that I would never have gotten at home. I feel like I look like a big bug with huge round eyes. OK! So they are not as round or as big as a lot of people wear (both here and at home) but they are round and much bigger than my beloved sunglasses that are sitting on my dresser at home!
We enjoyed a take out lunch in a park and people/bird watched. It was just a nice day of walking around and enjoying the day.
A nice relaxed day of course meant that we would have apartment issues. Basically - I now have a new fear. Sparking from receptacles. There is one receptacle that starts sparking if the lap top is plugged in almost anywhere in the apartment and/or anything else that "pulls" a lot of electricity. One thing that pulls a lot of electricity is the fan that has saved us during these hot mornings. The sun pours in to the windows and the whole apartment is roasting in the morning. Anyway... The satellite was also out. So I have been watching the Russian news, Dubbed over episodes of Scrubs, CSI, and Murder She Wrote, and I also watched the Russian version of Law & Order. Needless to say I should have brought another book.
Anyway, we are doing well and continue to be so thankful for a wonderful trip.
Just when you think you are done for the day. (Its 11:00 PM here now.) I was just about to post this entry when I hear this crazy loud rumbling outside. Dave had left the room so I called out - Dave, that doesn't sound right. He came back into the room and jumped up on the couch and said "ummm, Emily you need to see this." He opens the window to this deafening rumble. We both just stand at the window with our mouths open. Tank after Tank after Tank... Then weapons maybe? Or Weapon launchers at the least. Then tons of police. It was wild! They are preparing for a parade or they are moving these items for placement for public display. I don't know which one, but I am glad its over. This gave me great time to pause and to thank God that we didn't know what tanks sound like when they go down a road or what weapons of war really look like up close.
Do I even need to ask for continued prayers?
